Sepala Kuruppu Arachchi is a retired senior education administrator with nearly four decades of experience across teaching, school leadership, and provincial education governance in Sri Lanka. His career progressed through every significant tier of the education system, from classroom teacher to Principal, through district and provincial administration, culminating in his appointment as Provincial Director of Education for the Sabaragamuwa Province, a position he held from 2009 to 2022.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a Master of Science from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a Master of Education from the University of Colombo, complemented by diplomas in education, education management, and education administration from the University of Colombo, the National Institute of Education, and the Postgraduate Institute of Management respectively.
Throughout his career he developed particular expertise in school library development, reading habit improvement, curriculum management, and education planning and strategic management. He also led project management initiatives in partnership with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, bringing international development programme experience to his administrative work.
His contributions to education have been recognised with multiple national awards, including the National Productivity Award 2021 (Gold), the APICTA Award 2022 (Gold), the National ICT Award 2022 (Gold), the ICTA Award 2021 (Merit), and the UN 50 Volunteers Award.
